Chargers vs Hawks

This was a hard game to sit through with all the offensive deficiencies and all the soft cover zone the defense was playing. The Seahawks got real lucky with this win. They looked really good in the first half moving the ball down field and flying around on defense. Leon Washington is dynamite in a bottle, if it wasn't for his two kick returns for touchdown the Hawks would be 1-2 instead of 2-1. The second half was atrocious and disappointing. It was a tale of two stories just like any other sports team in Seattle. The hawks had a 17-0 lead and let it evaporate in a few plays. The offense sputtered in the second half and the defense was leaving receivers wide open. The Chargers had no running game and they still manged to keep the game close with Phillp Rivers going to the air. Just watching Rivers disect the Hawks defense made me realize how bad our secondary is. Antonio Gates was Rivers go to man on third down and the Hawks would some how lose track of him and give up a first down. Once again Matt Hasslebeck continues to make mistakes and throw the ball to the wrong team. Even though he had a decent game numbers wise he still needs to be more effective in the passing game. My other question is with the Chargers missing their top players like Shawn Merrimen, Vincent Jackson, Marcus McNeil and two other linebackers why couldn't Seattle take advantage of running the ball on the outside of the defense. The whole game Rivers was going down field and getting the ball to tall receivers like Malcom Floyd, Patrick Crayton, Ligdeu Nanne and Gates. The Hawks did do a good job of getting to Rivers and sacking him more than once and stuffing the running game. The defensive player of the game might have to go to Chris Clemens for putting constant pressure on Rivers. The offensive player of the game will have to be Leon Washington for his two kick returns for touch down. Lucky charms was in Seattle today looking after the Seahawks. Play another game like this and they are asking to lose big to a good team that will take advantage of how the Hawks play. It was incredle that Rivers throws for 450 plus yards and still lose. The Hawks would have major problems if the Chargers were at full health. But the game is over and the Hawks managed to hold on for a win and now it's on to next week against the Rams in St.Louis. The Hawks better prepare for this Rams team that is riding a high by beating the Washington Redskins. My message to Pete Carroll and the Hawks play for a full 60 minutes and play tough.
